Columbia Jungle Run – Walk Edition

A morning of rainy, muddy, fun family time together

On Sunday, 27 May 2018, Centaurs Group organised and hosted the first ever Columbia Jungle Run – Walk Edition, an active morning in partnership with the Centre for Fathering and sponsored by Columbia Sportswear.

The sold-out family event had 400 dads, mums, grandparents and kids experiencing the Centaurs Jungle Trail, our flora- and fauna-filled ravine and military-style obstacle course, The Pit. Designed to challenge and excite, the Jungle Run – Walk Edition event was non-competitive, instead billed as an opportunity to do something completely different, to live in the moment, to get muddy, to work together and bond as a family.

“It was a natural for us to partner with Centre for Fathering (who are known island-wide for their Dads for Life campaigning) for this event; we both emphasise the importance of active family-time in this ever-increasing digitally-dominated world”, says Centaurs Group CEO & Race Director Tim Lambert. “Centaurs was honoured to host the event with Centre for Fathering as a beneficiary, and to have Jungle Run – Walk Edition as the active event in the six-week Celebrating Fathers campaign 2018. I would also like to express my immense appreciation for the ongoing Jungle Run event support provided by Columbia Sportswear.”

Centaurs has also previously announced its Jungle Run 2 event later in 2018, again with Columbia as the headline sponsor. “We’re delighted to confirm our next Jungle Run event will be on Sunday, 7 October 2018, at the same Centaurs Sports Park, Bukit Timah location. This time we are co-organising with our good friends at Tampines West CSC. This event will be competitive trail-running, with prizes to be won by the fastest 3 finishers in each of the main 4 categories. We will be including a non-competitive FunRun category too”, says Tim.

“So, Family categories will remain, but runners can expect a different and longer (5km) course, with many more obstacles and fun challenges opportunities for individuals. Registration for this event will open in on 1st August, and we look forward to welcoming more people than ever to our unique sporting venue.”
