FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the event all about?

The Columbia Jungle Run 2017 is a competitive mass participation Trail run for families and individuals with natural and manmade obstacles set within the Centaurs Jungle Trail and around the Mini-pitches at Centaurs Sports Park, Turf City, Bukit Timah.

How long is the course and how long does it take to complete?

The course is approx. 5 kilometers long, which can be run in laps; each lap is estimated to take 35 to 50 minutes depending on category. The running of a second (and subsequent dependent on category) lap exposes the runners to the terrain and obstacles, allowing them to improve the subsequent laps, adding a more competitive element to the run

What’s the best category for me?

We encourage you to first consider one of the family categories, as this is a family-oriented event. However, those up for a more personal challenge may consider one of the individual categories, where you can choose to compete openly, or as an adult over 40.

What are the obstacles I can expect to face?

The majority of the route will follow most of the Jungle Cross Cycle track with strategic route changes for safety and fair racing purposes. The course will also utilise “The Pit”, a military style obstacle course as well as accessing the central waterway. The course has been carefully reviewed by our organising team.
The Mini-fields will host at least 3 static obstacles including:
  • scramble net
  • barrier hurdles
  • tyre runs
The Jungle Trail course will involve the following:
  • wall climbs
  • river runs
  • bank & rope climbs
  • jungle track running with inclines and declines
  • monkey bars
  • balance beams

What about food and drinks?

Food and Beverage vendors will be set up at the Bukit Timah Community Village area, as well as health drinks, merchandise and other goodies.

BUKIT TIMAH COMMUNITY VILLAGE

The Columbia Jungle Run 2017 will be accompanied by a family-friendly Bukit Timah Village festival on the day, providing food, drinks, kids attractions and offerings by local vendors and businesses.
