On Sunday 19th June, Centaurs hosted clubs from around Singapore to play in a minis carnival for U8-U11 age groups. As Covid restrictions have recently been removed, we have seen an amazing effort by clubs and players to get back out on court and start some competitive games again. Centaurs wanted to give back to our Netball community and get our young players out on court and in front of all their fans! Amazing to see a packed Centaurs Netball Park with kids and parents all enjoying a morning of Netball!
The Carnival included our Centaurs U8 age group and 4 teams played round-robin matches to show off their skills developed in the first 6 months of this year. It was amazing to see all the girls playing so well and having so much fun. This is the first time U8s have represented Centaurs, and we can’t be prouder of the way they went out there and showed us what they can do.
Following on were U9 and U10, both groups having already had a couple of opportunities to play at various events; but this is the first time for 2 years we have hosted an event like this. Again, the parents, family and friends supporting were fantastic, and everyone played the games with an amazing spirit and great sportsmanship. Lots of high-fives, clapping for every goal and lots of cheering throughout the day.
Finally, in the afternoon Centaurs hosted ANZA in the U11 age group for four friendly matches. It is just amazing how much these girls have improved over the year, and especially now they can play more competitive matches. Games were played with amazing spirit and the coaches are seeing skills develop that will benefit the girls as they progress through the grades. We couldn’t be prouder of all the girls that participated.
To assist with our Carnival, we put out a call for girls from our senior squads to volunteer their time to help out run the event and help their younger peers have a great day out!
Massive shout out to Aimee, Charlotte, Zara, Gigi, Tessa, Darcey and Sofia for an amazing effort for supporting the event. You guys made the day! The way you handle yourselves, provide encouragement to the players, play with and entertain the kids and support the organizers is such a credit to you as young ladies. The club cannot be prouder of you as role-models for all our youngsters just starting out in netball.
