A rather eventful Term 2 saw Centaurs Rugby say farewell to two of our dedicated Head Coaches as they leave Singapore.
James Tranter: Head Coach U8 (2017)
Having joined the club as members back in 2017 with his sons Charlie and Harry, James took on the role of Head Coach of Harry’s age-group in 2019. The Tranter trilogy looked set to be completed this year with his youngest, Betsy, joining our U5s.
Those who have had the pleasure of working with James will know how incredibly dedicated he is as a coach; not just for his meticulous session plans but also in his commitment to helping coach the U11s with Charlie and helping answer the odd SOS with Betsy’s U5s.
Leon Emes: Head Coach U12 (2012)
Another trilogy member, Leon joined the Centaurs family back in 2012 with his eldest son Evan, before taking on the role of Head Coach of his younger son Felix’s age group.
Leon was an extremely dedicated and focused coach, ensuring the players and coaches enjoyed training, built lasting friendships and developed a love for rugby.
With his daughter Leah, also a keen rugby player with Centaurs, Leon played an influential role in developing Girls Rugby in Singapore.
Partnering with Patrick Jelfs from TRC, they not only brought together girls from clubs across Singapore to train and compete together, but also helped fundraise for the Laos Rugby Federation girl’s rugby team to travel to tournaments in Singapore.
We are truly grateful for everything both James and Leon have done for the club and Singapore rugby and really wish them both all the best for the future.
