Another massive term at Centaurs Netball!
Our U7, U8 and U9 groups had some fun at AIS against the Sharks and then were the perfect hosts when these groups came down to Centaurs. We can look forward to joining the Sharks at their end-of-season tournament early in Term 3.
Our U11s and U12s were kept busy with the Sport Ready Sunday league (U11 winners) and the SGNA Quad Series. Well done for the mass participation of girls in these competitive opportunities – it will set us up very nicely for term 3.
Let’s not forget the Inaugural Centaurs Tournament at Dulwich College in May for the U11 – U15 group. A massive success. This tournament involved 29 teams, almost 300 players including around 100 Centaurs girls. Throw in the umpires, officials and spectators and it was a huge day of netball en masse, bringing together clubs and local schools for the first time. Kingfishers managed to take out the title in the competitive U15 division and other divisions taken out by SGNA and ANZA. #sharingthelove A great day for the growth of junior netball in Singapore and an event now on our annual calendar.
The tournament was the perfect prelude to our tour to Perth in June for the WA State Champs. Once again, this was an amazing experience for all girls in the Bluebirds (U12), Swifts (U13) and Kingfishers (U14) teams. Not only exposure to next-level netball but the perfect environment for personal growth and team bonding. All teams had success on the court and all girls came back stronger and more determined from the experience.
Three teams touring from Jumeriah Baccalaureate School in Dubai came to us for some friendlies. We showed them a humdinger tropical storm, some stair sprints and finally some games on a wet court. As always, our girls were the perfect hosts.
We wound up the term with some amazing opportunities for all girls with the team from NETFIT who were visiting from Australia. There were training sessions, HIIT sessions and coaching sessions on offer. The take-up from our girls was fantastic and we unconditionally recommend NETFIT as a great online resource for netball specific fitness drills. Log on and have a look – it’s free. NETFIT had a ball in Singapore and are already talking about when they can come back.
Next term is our competition term and all girls can look forward to lots of games. We encourage all girls to make themselves available for any leagues or tournaments on offer. It gives our tough trainings some purpose and – it’s FUN!
Have a great break everyone and we all look forward to seeing you on the 24th August for our long term. Rest well and keep yourself fit – we will be hitting the ground running.
