Experience & qualifications… Wales 7s, GB Students 7s, London Welsh RFC, Rosslyn Park RFC (UK), currently playing with Bucks RFC (Prems). Player coaching experience with Sevenoaks RFC (UK).
What I love most about rugby is… how many doors it opens and the people you meet. Rugby gives you the chance to travel the world with your best mates and, if you win, nothing can beat it!
I tell my players… to have confidence in themselves, go onto the pitch thinking they can out do your opposite man. Play with a smile and if in doubt, just run with it!

U15s / PRO

Experience & qualifications… I play for Bedok Kings Rugby Club (Premiership) and I’ve been playing with the Singapore Men’s Rugby since 2013. Before that i was with Singapore U23s in 2013, and U20s in 2009 age group set up. I currently a hold World Rugby Level 1 Coaching qualification.
What I love most about rugby is… the sense of belonging to a well-knit community. Always having a good time on the pitch and enjoying each other’s company after the game. And having the chance to travel to play against different teams from all over the world.
What I tell my players… rugby can be played well by simply perfecting basic skills like passing and catching. It’s a game played well by gelling together simple basic skills.

I coach because… it gives me the chance to give back to the sport that has given so much to me. I relish the opportunity to share my passion for rugby and to help foster that in the next generation of players. I want children to love playing rugby, to always have fun doing so, and to learn how to play it as best as they can.
Our age group mantra: “Why do we play? We do it for the love of it!”

Patrick Kelly

Experience & Qualifications… Played both League and Union at St Augustines College up till 18 years of age. I coached junior Rep teams in Manly Warringah District Cricket Club before moving to Centaurs, and I’m a Level 1 Referee (Rugby League).
What I love about coaching… seeing the kids skills grow so quickly, watching friends made at training and bonding with other parents and coaches.
The best thing about rugby is… it doesn’t matter what your size or shape is, there is always a position for everyone to be involved.

U11s & GIRLS U17s

I’ve been coaching Centaurs since… as a parent 2011 and 2013 as a coach.
Experience & Qualifications… my playing is confined to touch footy these days. I’m a qualified Level 1 Coach and Level 1 Referee.
Best thing about coaching…  coaching is something that brings pleasure in many different ways. It’s a pleasure to see the kids progress, smile and have fun through rugby. It’s a pleasure to know that the core rugby skills of integrity, teamwork and discipline that we teach today will follow the kids through life, both on and off the pitch. It’s a pleasure to be able to work alongside such a supportive group of parent and pro coaches who help make us such a successful team. At Centaurs I’m lucky to be surrounded by great people, all willing to share their experiences and help you bring the best out of the kids.
What I love about rugby… it’s such an inclusive sport. No matter what your shape, size, ability or fitness there will always be a place for you on the pitch and in the team. And best of all you’ll make friends for life…. quite frankly it’s the best sport in the world.

I’ve been coaching Centaurs since… 2018
Experience & qualifications… I play touch for the Parentaurs side and spent many years honing my rugby skills on the beaches of South Africa.
Best thing about coaching rugby is… Watching the girls develop their confidence and strength in the game of rugby as well as in life. Most of the girls start out shy and hesitant, new to rugby and once they gain that confidence to catch and pass, to kick the ball or make the tackle… it’s like they bloom! I love the learning environment of “girls only” so they feel safe and secure to try anything. My day is made when I hear them laughing, seeing them get muddy and go home with a smile, ready to come back next week.
What I tell my players… Have fun, play fair, support your mates! (credit to Coach Harry for his Centaurs cheer)

Tim Gazzard

Experience & Qualifications… Playing rugby since age 9, played through school, university and working years in Australia, London and Peru. I’m also a Level 2 Referee, Level 1 Coach & current President of JRCS.
What we love most about coaching… Saturday’s a rugby day!!! For the U10s it’s still all about having fun, helping the kids develop a love of the game, getting the parents involved and building our rugby family/community. We continue to work on the building blocks of rugby – catching, passing, running forwards, tackling & rucking – while at the same time reinforcing rugby’s core values of integrity, respect, solidarity, passion and discipline. This year is jam-packed with tours to Malaysia, KL and Bangkok. The U10s also enter the JRCS league this year and get their first taste of regular league matches and competition! It’s all set to be an exciting year!!!

I’ve been coaching Centaurs since… 2017
Experience & Qualifications… I started coaching Rugby for Children when we lived in Dubai before moving to Singapore. I have completed my Level 1 Coaching Certificate through World Rugby.
I coach because… Coaching can be extremely rewarding! Seeing the confidence boost when a developing player side-steps or tackles a more developed player for the first time is really awesome. As a coach you get to share these experiences with the players. It is inspiring when creativity and decision-making unfolds successfully in front of you in a match situation and we all love to see the ball moving down the line into space, finally scoring the try. But the best thing about coaching is the camaraderie – our age group is rich with amazing parents and we have a passionate group of volunteer parent coaches that makes every moment incredible!
What I tell my players Have Fun, Play Fair, Support your mates!
