Wrap up Rugby Term 2

The end of another great term at Centaurs!

Term 2 started with great news as Old Centaurian (OC) Erik Bryant received a call up to the Singapore Men’s 15’s side and subsequently earned 3 caps against Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Philippines. At just 17 years of age, Erik has a bright rugby future ahead of him. Another OC Bryan Lee also got received the honour of playing for Singapore, alongside Director of Rugby Charlie Lambert.

It was a deceptively jam-packed term for just 10 weeks! Our minis went across the ravine for the TRC Junior Cup in May, a few lucky age groups went to showcase their skills in Perth, coaching legend Jake White and the Asia Pacific Dragons made guest appearances at training, and the parents enjoyed a kid-free social night at the Hollandse Club in June.

July saw the culmination of a successful JRCS League ’19 for Centaurs; winning 9 out of 11 matches, including 7 Cups, a Plate and a Bowl. Results aside, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day out for all the players and spectators. Thanks goes out to the JRCS organising committee for putting together a great league.

The summer break sees four of our Centaurians attending the prestigious Inside Running Rugby Academy in New Zealand. Josh Parr (Alumni), Ethan Stratton (U17), Kit Mirosevic-Sorgo (U17) and Kade Cunningham (U14). They will no-doubt greatly benefit from the experiences and coaching they will receive and we wish them all the best.

Also sadly, as Term 2 comes to an end we bid farewell to Charlie Lambert who has been an integral part of Centaurs as a player, a coach, Facilities Director and lastly Director of Rugby. Charlie leaves us to head over to Auckland in August, where we’re sure he will be flying the Centaurs flag high.

Finally, just a reminder that there is the New Zealand Rugby Experience Camp happening 8-12 July, as well as many Multisport camps for 6 to 13 year olds throughout summer break. Term 3 promises a number of great tournaments including TRC Senior Cup in September, the SCC 7s, and our very own CIMYRT in November. So we look forward to seeing you all back at Centaurs on August 24th!
